- Uçhisar Fortress: A Rock-Carved Legacy
Perched high above Cappadocia, Uçhisar Fortress stands as a striking testament to the region’s past. Carved into the cliffs, this towering stronghold once guarded the land, its caves and tunnels forming a hidden city of homes, chapels, and storerooms. Climb its steep steps to the summit, and you’re rewarded with a sweeping panorama of Cappadocia’s fairy-tale valleys and rock formations—a view that captures the heart of this Turkish wonderland. Wander its narrow paths to feel the echoes of history and soak in its rugged charm.
- Love Valley: Romance in Stone
Love Valley enchants with its whimsical rock formations and serene trails, a highlight of the Red Tour. Known locally as Güvercinlik (“Pigeon Valley”), its name nods to the dove-like shapes sculpted by nature—and the romantic aura that lingers here. Stroll through this peaceful haven, where heart-shaped pillars and bulbous rocks spark the imagination. A favorite for dreamy photos and quiet moments, it’s a slice of Cappadocia’s natural poetry.
- Göreme Open-Air Museum: A Window to the Past
The Göreme Open-Air Museum, a UNESCO gem, pulls you into Cappadocia’s ancient soul. This sprawling site is a tapestry of rock-hewn churches and monasteries, their walls alive with vivid frescoes from centuries past. Each painting—depicting biblical scenes and saints—whispers tales of faith and artistry. As a Red Tour must-see, it blends history with wonder, leaving you awestruck by its beauty and legacy.
- Avanos: The Potter’s Haven
Nestled along the Red Tour’s path, Avanos hums with the legacy of Cappadocia’s master potters. Known as the “City of Clay,” this riverside village thrives on its timeless craft, shaping everything from delicate dishes to striking sculptures. Watch artisans at work in cozy workshops, or try your hand at the wheel—an immersive dip into local culture. With its stone-carved homes and galleries, Avanos offers a warm, artistic welcome.
- Dervish Valley & Wishing Valley: Nature’s Mystique
The Cappadocia Red Tour unveils two enchanting valleys, each a natural masterpiece with a story to tell.
Dervish Valley (Güzelyurt): Once a sanctuary for meditative monks, this valley cradles the famous Çirpiş Rock—a sacred retreat turned museum. Explore its trails and marvel at the vistas, a peaceful nod to Cappadocia’s spiritual roots.
Wishing Valley (Valley of Imagination): Here, nature plays sculptor, crafting rocks into fantastical shapes—animals, objects, dreams frozen in stone. At sunset, the glowing hues turn it into a photographer’s paradise, sparking awe and wonder.
- Selçuk Fortress: Echoes of Strength
The Selçuk Fortress rises as a proud relic of Cappadocia’s storied past. Its sturdy walls and intricate design tell of a bygone era of defense and grandeur. Climb its heights for sweeping views of the region’s surreal landscape, and let your imagination roam as you stand where guardians once watched over the land. It’s a Red Tour highlight that blends history with breathtaking beauty.

5Absolutely amazing experience!
I wanted to offer the balloon flight to my mother as a birthday gift but I’m very afraid of heights and she doesn’t speak English, so I spoke with Discovery Balloons and they allowed me to go with her as watcher (and later my dad was also able to come with us).
They picked us up at the hotel and then we went to the agency for breakfast and safety instruction. We then went to where the flight starts and stayed there till the balloon went up. My mother loved the flight! She said it’s absolutely beautiful.
Me and my dad came back to the station and then the driver took us to the place where the balloon landed, where there was cake and champagne and the flight certificate was delivered.
I want to say thank you to Discovery Balloons, because they are always very nice and eager to help (we spoke a lot via WhatsApp) and this way I could give the gift I wanted to my mother!
