Göynük Canyon sits just a few kilometres from the Kemer coast but feels like a completely different world. Sheer rock walls rise on either side of a cold mountain river, the light filters down through the narrow gap above and the sound of water echoes off the stone. It takes about twenty minutes to drive here from Kemer and two hours to explore — and those two hours are entirely yours to use however you like.

The Canyon
Göynük is one of the most dramatic natural landscapes in the Kemer area. The canyon was carved over millennia by the Göynük River cutting through the limestone of the Taurus Mountains, leaving walls that in places rise to over a hundred metres. Walking along the river through the canyon — sometimes wading through shallow water, sometimes crossing on wooden bridges — is a genuinely thrilling experience that requires no special equipment or fitness level. The further you walk into the canyon the more dramatic it becomes.
Two Hours, Your Way
On arrival at the canyon you have two full hours of free time to spend exactly as you choose. If you want to walk quietly through the gorge and take photographs, the canyon path is well marked and perfectly safe for independent exploration. If you want something more active, the canyon entrance offers a range of optional activities — including rafting, zipline and body rafting — which can be booked directly on arrival. Your guide will be on hand to advise and answer any questions before you head in.

5Der Göynük Canyon ist wirklich atemberaubend. Die Felswände ragen so hoch auf beiden Seiten auf und das kalte Flusswasser zwischen den Steinen ist einfach wunderschön. Wir haben uns für einen ruhigen Spaziergang durch den Canyon entschieden und die zwei Stunden waren perfekt. Am Eingang kann man auch Aktivitäten wie Rafting und Zipline buchen — einige aus unserer Gruppe haben das gemacht und waren begeistert. Sehr empfehlenswert.

3The canyon itself is genuinely beautiful — the rock walls are impressive and the river walk is atmospheric. However two hours felt slightly rushed for a proper exploration and we had to turn back before reaching the best part of the gorge. The entrance has a ticket office for activities like rafting and zipline which looked good. I would have preferred three hours to really do the canyon justice. Worth visiting but just be aware of the time constraint.

5The canyon is extraordinary — sheer limestone walls, cold clear water and a path that winds deeper and deeper into the gorge. We walked through independently and had the two hours almost to ourselves at times. A friend in our group booked the zipline at the entrance ticket office and said it was brilliant. Either way you spend your time in there, you will not be disappointed. One of the best things we did in Kemer.

4Göynük Canyon was een prachtige ervaring. De rotswanden die aan beide kanten omhoog rijzen zijn indrukwekkend en het koude rivierwater tussen de stenen is verfrissend. We kozen ervoor om zelfstandig door de kloof te wandelen en de twee uur waren perfect. 5Göynük Canyon var et fantastisk sted. Klippevæggene der rejser sig på begge sider er imponerende og det kolde flodvand mellem stenene er forfriskende. Vi valgte at vandre selvstændigt gennem kløften og de to timer var perfekte. Ved indgangen kan man købe billetter til forskellige aktiviteter som rafting og zipline — nogle i vores gruppe gjorde det og var vilde med det. Absolut en af de bedste oplevelser nær Kemer.

5I had no idea Göynük Canyon was this close to Kemer. Twenty minutes in the minibus and you are standing at the entrance to one of the most dramatic natural landscapes I have seen anywhere. The two hours of free time worked perfectly — half our group went rafting which they booked at the entrance, while the rest of us walked through the gorge independently. Both groups came out raving about it. A brilliant morning.

3Der Canyon selbst ist wunderschön und die Felswände sind beeindruckend. Allerdings fanden wir zwei Stunden etwas wenig Zeit um den Canyon wirklich ausgiebig zu erkunden. Am Eingang kann man Aktivitäten wie Rafting und Zipline buchen was eine gute Option für Abenteuerlustige ist. Insgesamt ein schöner Ausflug aber ich hätte mir mehr Zeit im Canyon gewünscht um wirklich alles sehen zu können.

Rozhodli jsme se pro klidnou procházku kaňonem a dvě hodiny byly ideální. 5We visited Göynük Canyon on our third day in Kemer and it completely changed the tone of the holiday in the best possible way. After two days on the beach, walking through that gorge — wading through the cold river, looking up at walls of limestone disappearing into the sky — felt genuinely adventurous.
